Mayor Nutter promised a parade if the Phillies won the World Series and there was, indeed, a parade. We were granted permission to leave work early to participate in the festivities and watch the parade. It was incredibly packed with fans and all of the phone lines were jammed, making it impossible to find anyone. Our only chance was to send out a text and hope it would eventually send.
The air was crisp with energy, excitement, and enthusiasm as fans swarmed the streets. Children on their father's shoulders, fans waving pendants, empty beers strewn across the grass. It was truly an amazing site to see what an inspiration a baseball team could be and how united a city could become through America's favorite pastime.
